Beach Access

Unique

Fish Haul Beach (public access at the northeastern tip) — uncrowded, wild, and scenic. Views of Port Royal Sound. Great for nature walking and shelling. Not a traditional swimming beach but stunning.

Vibe & Character

The north end of the island has a dramatically different character from the resort-heavy south end: quieter, more wooded, more nature-centric, and far from the tourist activity. Oyster Reef Golf Club and the Country Club of Hilton Head are both here. Fish Haul Beach is one of the island's most beautiful and least-visited natural beaches — perfect for shelling and wildlife watching. The Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn is a 70-acre historic estate with free admission worth visiting for any island visitor.

No Short-Term Rentals Permitted

Hilton Head Plantation does not allow short-term vacation rentals. Visitors should look at Folly Field, Port Royal Plantation, or mid-island hotels for nearby accommodation.

Local Notes

Hilton Head Plantation does not allow short-term rentals. The Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn is a stunning 70-acre historic estate with free admission — worth a visit for any island visitor. The north end also has the Hilton Head Distillery and some of the best birding on the island.
