What To Do in Bluffton

Old Town Bluffton

The original village of Bluffton sits on a bluff above the May River and is one of the most charming small towns in South Carolina. The historic district is walkable, lined with art galleries, boutiques, and restaurants in beautifully preserved 19th-century buildings.

Church of the Cross

A stunning Gothic Revival church built in 1857, perched on the May River bluff. The church survived the Civil War and remains an active congregation. The grounds and river views are exceptional.

Bluffton Oyster Company

One of the last working oyster houses in South Carolina, operating since 1899. Watch oysters being processed and buy them fresh to take home. The May River oysters are among the best in the state.

May River Waterfront

The May River is one of the cleanest rivers in South Carolina — it's the reason Bluffton's oysters are so prized. Walk the bluff trail for views of the river, or rent a kayak and paddle through the marsh.

Art Galleries

Old Town Bluffton has a thriving arts scene with over a dozen galleries showcasing Lowcountry landscapes, Gullah-inspired art, and contemporary work. The Society of Bluffton Artists gallery is a great starting point.
