Lowcountry Watersports has a variety of boats available at Palmetto Bay Marina, from smaller vessels perfect for exploring the creeks to larger boats suited for a full day on the sound.

The most popular self-guided destination is Daufuskie Island — accessible only by boat, the beaches there are almost always empty. Anchor off the shore, swim, explore the island on foot. Pack a lunch, bring snorkeling gear, and plan to spend a few hours. It's one of those Hilton Head experiences that people talk about for years.

Boating safety certification or a quick skills check is required before heading out. Half-day and full-day options are available. Book early in summer — boats go fast, especially on weekends.
