"Homemade tortillas, bold Latin flavors, and the best tacos on the island"
If you've been eating at the same seafood spots every trip and want something completely different, Tio's is where you go. It's a family-owned Latin American kitchen at Shelter Cove Towne Centre that pulls from Mexican, Cuban, and Central and South American traditions — and does it all really well. The tortillas are made fresh in-house every day, and once you taste them, you'll understand why people drive across the island specifically for the tacos.
The menu is bigger than you'd expect — burritos, quesadillas, enormous nachos, fajitas, and a whole section of bowls for the gluten-free crowd. The Tio's Steak Burrito with marinated ribeye and borracha sauce is the move if you're hungry. The Quesabirria Tacos (beef, melty cheese, onions, cilantro, consomé) are a newer addition and already a fan favorite. Happy hour runs daily and the margaritas are strong and well-priced.
The vibe is casual and colorful — there's a big Day of the Dead mural on the wall, string lights overhead, and the kind of energy that makes it feel like a neighborhood spot rather than a tourist trap. It's family-friendly, quick enough for a weeknight dinner, and fun enough for a group. Locals eat here regularly, which is about the best endorsement a restaurant on this island can get.
